What better way to wow a crowd during a Halloween party than a themed appetizer. Halloween with 3 kids and a big extended family means lots of fun parties and adventures. But also, not much time for extravagant meals. Kids want appetizers and treats that are tasty and fun to eat. This appetizer fits that bill and it is easy and quick to throw together. With a mummy-baked brie in the middle of this Halloween charcuterie, it is sure to wow. For the most part they are sliced cheese and meat plus a few sweet treats and crackers. The more themed items you add the better. You can use cookie cutters for the cheese slices and salami.
Boards
If you haven’t picked up a few boards yet for decorating or snacking, here are a few that I like.
This one from amazon has cheese knives and slide out sections for crackers as well as a cold plate for the cheese.
This set from Sams club is really all that you need and pretty enough to hang on your wall! Plenty of room to spread out. You could even do one for kids and one for adults.
The Mummy Brie!
This will be the main attraction on your Halloween charcuterie board. Get the kids involved and have them wrap up the mummy! I had a jar of cheese chutney from Ireland my sister gave me for my birthday so I used that. Any good quality jam or jelly will do for a filling. I have a recipe somewhere that calls for bourbon, brown sugar and pecans. That one I will share in the coming weeks for Christmas. I never use a recipe so I will have to measure the ingredients the next time I make it. For now, here is the recipe for the mummy brie!
Peel all of the rind off of the brie cheese. If you like the taste of the rind, you can leave some on. Too much rind will overpower the chutney.
Thaw out your puff pastry so that you can work it a little. Once it has thawed enough that it will stretch out, take each corner and stretch it so that it will wrap around the brie cheese.
Sit the brie in the middle and then take a knife and cut small strips on both sides leaving the top and bottom whole.
Place 2 tablespoons of your favorite chutney or jam under the brie. Place the brie on top and then add two more tablespoons on top of the brie.
wrap the top and bottom dough around the brie and then the strips across to look like mummy strips.
Wisk one egg in a bowl with a fork until well combined and brush all over the top of the puff pastry.
Top the pastry with 2 candy eyes
Bake in the oven at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes until the crust is golden brown.

Crackers and other snacks
I like offering a few different options for crackers. Gluten-free, club and Carr’s. For the kids I add fruit, cheddar cheese and yogurt or chocolate-covered pretzels. Trader Joe’s, Walmart and Food Lion are places that I typically find fall or Halloween-themed treats to put on the board. Olives, goat cheese, jam and walnuts, pecans or flavored almonds are good too. Think of it as a “snack” board. That always helps me decide what to include.
I hope you have fun with this recipe. Let me know in the comment section if you make this!
The easiest meal prep dinner you’ll ever make. Just assemble the sliders. Pour over a butter mixture and then when I’m ready to cook it we just bake it at 350° for about 20 to 30 minutes until it gets heated through and it’s warm on the inside.
Molly and I are headed to a ladies church Christmas party tonight so we had to throw together a veggie tray for that and assembled this meal for tomorrow night. I’m working a 12 hour shift tomorrow. We will be eating dinner at the party tonight and the boys are going out too. I found some really good looking Duchess potatoes in the freezer section at Walmart today. Check out my stories and I’ll show you. We’re gonna serve the sliders with those potatoes.

Its Friday!
Have you finished shopping yet? I'm almost done.
Molly and I are making Christmas treats today. We will post some in stories as we make them. I forgot I have a hair appointment smack dab in the middle of the day. I better get moving.

if you don’t have a full-size Christmas tree in your bedroom, you gotta do it. I bought this tree at 75% off at Lowe’s the week before Christmas last year. I’m definitely gonna go back this year and see about getting another tree for the dining room. And if you don’t think you have the room, trust me, you probably do. Just shove whatever’s in that corner in your closet. I promise you it will be worth it.
If you have to eat Ramen noodles for a week to be able to afford it, I promise you it will be worth it 🤣
this tree brings me so much joy ☺️
I was so close to not buying it last year because it was the week before Christmas and I really did not want to spend the $85. But I’m so glad I did!

Cover any existing decorative pillow with a pillow cover! You do not need to buy the whole pillow. Just buy a cover to fit an existing pillow. It saves space and money!
I found these covers after Christmas last year for less than $10 a piece.

What a great gift these will make! So easy to make. Don't throw away those old coffee mugs or tea cups. I stead, make candles! Stay too Ed for step by step instructions from yours truly. The bag of wax has a great tutorial on it as well. Check my stories and highlights for the supplies.
